Speaking at a Kisumu Hotel, Governor Ranguma challenged farmers to be supply driven and avert from the old system of demand orientation.

"The market is driven by demand meaning a farmer should be supply driven. We must change our attitude. This way we will move from food deficit to food secure county," said Governor Ranguma.

He added, “A lot of food here is brought in from Kisii, Narok, Vihiga, Rift Valley and eggs come from Uganda."

He told the sub county agriculture officers to mobilise farmers and give feedback on the practices happening on the ground.

"The extension officer must move around to know what farmers require and what extension support do they require from the county. When they move around their areas they will be helping people in the process," said Ranguma.

"I know their numbers may not be enough let's start with the numbers we have to reach out people. I am going to demand from the chief officer to give me report on the farmers data and their farm practise," he said.
