Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma has urged his rivals to engage in issue-based campaigns as the country gears up for the next general elections.

Speaking on Thursday at his office, the County Chief further challenged his competitors to articulate their agenda to the Lake City's residents.

“I want to appeal to my opponents to emulate my peaceful campaigns, which purely focus on issues affecting residents. We should not attack each other or misuse our youth to advance selfish interest,” he noted.

“Let’s desist from politics that only divides the community. We must better the future of our people through progressive politics in accordance with our culture and traditions," he added.

He further cautioned the youth against being used by politicians to cause chaos and violence.

Ranguma is facing stiff competition in his bid to defend his seat from Senator Anyang' Nyong'o.

The lawmak was awarded the ODM Party ticket after he was controversially declared winner during the primaries.
