Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has warned contractors in the county to perform or be blacklisted. Ranguma said his government will not be let down by people who are being awarded jobs but fail to perform. He said funds have been channeled to carry out different development projects across the county and those enlisted to perform such duties must perform. The governor said those who are failing to carry out work assigned to them or doing substandard work will be blacklisted. “I will crack the whip and if you are blacklisted blame yourself,” he said. Speaking in Kisumu during the county prayer day, Ranguma said contractors who were given work and have no ability to carry out the work should own up. He said a lot of work still needs to be done in the county and will not entertain those who are not ready to work. Ranguma said addressing food security remains his top priority this year. He said his government will revitalise rice and sugar sector in the county since many families depend on farming. “My main aim is to ensure sugar and rice farming are improved to benefit our people,” he said. The governor urged the county residents to embrace horticultural farming for export through the newly refurbished Kisumu International Airport.
