The ownership of the said land has in the past generated controversy and has been blamed as a major cause for many inter-community conflicts in the region.

Mr Ranguma said that the land was set aside to settle the squatters in Thesalia and Jaber from Kisumu, but some people from Nandi have settled there.

He said that the land in question was bought by former Lands Minister and Siaya Senator James Orengo to resettle about 2,500 families.

"The land was bought in Muhoroni to settle IDPs from Jaber and Thesalia," Ranguma said on Monday.

Masogo-Nyangoma MCA Samuel Ong'ou on his side said he was shock when he received information that the land had been allocated to different people.
