Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma has expressed satisfaction, after new survey indicated he would retain his seat if elections were held today.

According to the poll by Infotrack research company, Ranguma would defeat his rival, Kisumu senator Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o in the gubernatorial race.

Ranguma would garner 58.7 per cent of the total votes cast, while Nyong’o would come second with 8.7 per cent votes.

''I sincerely thank the people of Kisumu for their massive and continuous support as illustrated in the opinion poll released by Infotrak. The findings on the gubernatorial race is consistent with those released by Milesta Research Ltd and TIFA which had also conducted a similar survey,'' Ranguma said.

During the release of the survey last week, Hezron Mc’Obewa would come third with 6.8 per cent support, while area deputy governor Ruth Odinga and Chris Ondiek would come in the fourth and fifth positions with -3 per cent, and -1 per cent respectively.

''The signals continue to become clearer; the margin continues to widen; residents continue being more optimistic of victory especially as we approach ODM nominations,'' added Ranguma, who seeks re-election.
