Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and his Deputy Ruth Odinga have been summoned by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)’s disciplinary committee over wrangles in the assembly.
Kisumu Assembly Chief Whip Isaiah Onyango also to appears before the committee on Monday May 25. The committee’s Chairperson Fred Athuok said the three will be expected to shed more light on wrangles threatening to cripple the assembly and deny Kisumu residents service delivery.
Kisumu Senator Peter Anyang Nyong’o appeared before the committee last week on Thursday giving his side of the story. He said it was part of the proceedings the committee was conducting following an incident at the assembly a month ago where the Deputy Speaker Pamela Jossy was injured as she tried to force herself to chair assembly sessions.
ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba two weeks ago suspended former Majority leader Samuel Ong’ow and his deputy John Olum for gross misconduct, directing the party’s disciplinary committee to probe the duo and offer solutions to the assembly.
The committee chair stated that they are likely to conclude the proceedings on Monday and later sit down and prepare a report on the same. Athuok stated that they will conclude the proceedings on Monday and then take one week to prepare the report including recommendations and afterwards submit it to the party.
“We are committed to ending the wrangles bedevilling the assembly therefore need for all counties under the party’s control, to be role model regions that will show how they are implementing devolution,” said Athuok.
