[Photo|hivisasa.com]Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma breathed a sigh of relief after the High Court granted him his wish in the case challenging the election of Prof Anyang Nyong’o as the Governor.
Ranguma had petitioned the Court to direct IEBC which is the 2nd respondent in the case to avail to him all information contained in election kits.
Today Kisumu High Court has granted former Governor Jack Ranguma read only access to information extracted from the Kenya Integrated Elections Management Systems (KIEMS) kits after the August 8 vote.
Justice David Majanja directed the parties to report back to the court on 17th October 2017 for purposes of finding out whether the petitioner is given the access.
Ranguma’s lawyer Richard Onsongo who briefed the press after the court session said most of the petitioner’s prayers have been answered.
He said the parties in the case agreed that IEBC, the 2nd respondent to ensure that all the election materials used and unused in the recent polls are preserved.
The court also directed that all electronic data captured by KIEMS be put into proper custody for use by the court where necessary.
