Ranguma said that the 14 storey building is the property of the county government and not the national government.

The building’s ownership has been a tussle between the national and the county governments lately after the regional coordinator, Francis Mutue, allegedly gave a 90-day vacation notice.

The tussle began in 2013 immediately after the governor and his deputy occupied the building and changed its name from Nyanza Provincial Headquarters to Prosperity House.

Ranguma said that the name was no longer recognised by the constitution.

"The name is long and not in the 2010 Kenya constitution,” said Ranguma.

His statement was echoed by Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura who said that the building has caused a lot of problems between the governor and the regional commissioner.

Obura asked the president to step in and help resolve the issue before it gets out of hand.

"The commissioner is working under you, Mr President. Please do something about the matter," said Obura.

He said that office location will not affect how someone works. The two were speaking on Sunday at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground when they attended a fund raiser for the ACK St Stephens Cathedral.
