Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma has reiterated his commitment to ensure 640 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms are built across the county. Ranguma said there are 640 primary schools in the entire county that need ECDE classrooms. He said the funds meant for construction of such classrooms are merger but he will strive to ensure they are built. “We have started building the classrooms but funds in our annual budget are not enough to carry out the entire construction. Every year we will be allocating funds for the building of the classrooms,” he said. The Governor said ECDE classrooms in any primary school are in a sorry state and his government will work to reverse that. He said decent buildings will be put up housing young children from nursery, middle and final class before they join class one. Speaking on Friday at Katito in Nyakach when he presented 100 appointment letters to the newly recruited ECDE assistants, Ranguma said the county has employed 700 assistants in the entire county. He said ECD is the foundation for every child and county government will put enough resources to enhance education. “A child needs a proper foundation for the education and this is what we are putting as a county government, this is the beginning of better things for our children,” he said.
