Ranguma said the statement by Akaranga that Maseno is within Vihiga County is very unfortunate.

He said he will meet Akaranga on Thursday (today) to discuss the emerging issues and find a solution and urged the residents living along that border to remain calm.

Ranguma said the people of Kisumu and Vihiga have lived harmoniously and wondered why the boundary problem is coming up now.

“Our people intermarry at the border and I wonder who is fuelling this non-issue of border,” he said.

Speaking at Ojola on Wednesday during a public meeting in Kisumu West Sub County, Ranguma said if there is an issue, then there are national government organs capable to look into the matter.

The governor warned politicians to desist from issuing reckless statements over the border issue that might ignite tribal war along the border.

He said the matter need an urgent solution which will form the basis of their meeting with his fellow Governor.

Ranguma thanked the national government for ensuring maximum security at the border for a peaceful coexistence.

“There is adequate security at the border and I want to thank the national government for that quick response,” he said.
