“I was born at the Kisumu County Hospital many years back. Looking at it now, I am very much at home.”

These are the words of the Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma as he toured the Kisumu County Hospital on Friday morning.

“I have come back home to the place my beautiful mother gave birth to me. Many people may not know I was born in this hospital just like many babies born to the humble families today,” Ranguma said.

Ranguma said he was too young then to remember all the details of the maternity ward he was born in but he imagines the beauty of the rooms as the hospital was just a new building as opposed to its dilapidated state currently.

“Looking at it today I think the facility requires a total overhaul. Today I toured and I am sorry that three to five women share the same beds at the maternity wing,” he said.

Ranguma who thanked the leadership of the hospital for the four sites that they have shown in managing the facility said his government will move with speed to modernise the facility for effective healthcare delivery.
