The minority leader has been in the past criticised for his frequent attacks on Kisumu Governor's Jack Ranguma's governance.

Anayo, who belongs to Omingo Magara's PDP party has together with his four other colleagues offered fierce opposition to the County government.

Speaking from his ward office in Milimani, Anayo said that the role of the opposition is to keep the government of the day in check and ensure the plight of the common citizens were heard and addressed.

Anayo dismissed claims that there is a plan for him to be fronted as a deputy governor in the next elections.

"My critics are now spreading propaganda that I am seeking to succeed Ruth Odinga as deputy governor and that is why I oppose the County government this much," he said.

The Market/Milimani ward representative said that Ranguma should not fear opposition but concentrate on development agendas.

Manyatta Youth Bunge Chairman Benson Onoka asked the county government to offer service delivery and not fear opposition.

"No government can work without an opposition. The opposition's role is to keep the government in check and ensure that development is going on," said Onoka.
