Kisumu governor has given a one-month notice to contractors who do shoddy work, warning that they risk being blacklisted by the county government.
The governor insisted the county government will not pay for substandard work.
“After one month, contractors who fail to comply with the set standards will not work with us and we will not pay them,” he cautioned.
He added that the county government has already formed project management committees composed of members drawn from the areas where the projects are being undertaken to supervise the work done.
“We will only pay the contractors once the project management committees have given the work a clean bill of health,” he stated.
He said in a statement that contractors who do not complete the work as required will be deregistered after a month’s warning and will never be awarded any tender in the county.
