A recent survey released Wednesday, by CPS International, has indicated that many employers prefer to employ graduates from reputable and well performing universities.

CPS International’s lead consultant, Professor Herman Manyora however noted that perception by various employers may not necessary mean graduates from such learning institutions are more skilled than their counterparts from other institutions.

“Many firms would seek consultancy, fund or recruit employees based on which course is offered by what university and the reputation and ranking of that university,” said Manyora.

“For instance, University of Nairobi medical and law students are considered to be highly trained making employers seek to hire them. They may be wrong but that is what is happening,” he noted.

The study also revealed that majority of bosses believe science courses create more employment opportunities as compared to arts.

The research was conducted between February and May 2017.
