A 24-year-old quarry worker was lynched by members of the public at Kibiga village in Mivumoni location, Garissa County after he defiled a woman.
Jack Abdi Munga is alleged to have defiled the 11-year-old girl who was passing by a quarry.
According to the area children officer, Abdullahi Ahmed, the deceased abducted the class four student who was passing by and raped her in the bush near a quarry at his working place.
“He forcefully dragged the pupil and raped her. At that particular moment, nobody was near to help. Villagers heard from the distance the girl screaming and when they arrived, she was already unconscious,” said Ahmed.
The angry people arrested the suspect and stoned him to death.
Mivumoni OCPD, Jack Ekakuro, confirmed the incident and cautioned members of public against taking the law into their hands.
“We are here to enforce the law and so members of the public should not kill suspects; let them follow the law,” urged the OCPD.
