Former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju has been appointed by the Jubilee Party to head its secretariat as they prepare for the 2017 general elections.
According to Capital FM, Tuju's appointment was confirmed on Saturday morning after hours of speculation following the party’s National Governing Council meeting held on Friday.
Speaking this morning while meeting the Jubilee campaign team, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that this was in line with the party’s agenda to unite Kenyans.
“The hand of the Jubilee government has been seen in every corner of this country. In some areas, more has been achieved in the past three years than it has been by other administration in the past 50 years,” said the President.
Hailing of the new appointees, Deputy President William Ruto said that they were mandated to steer selfless campaigns and ensure all party members and Kenyans are served without bias.
“You are here to serve others. You need to cede ground so that other people can join us in working for Kenyans,” said the Deputy President.
The appointment is viewed as an effort by Jubilee to weaken ODM's grassroots support in Nyanza especially with Tuju's great development performance as a former MP.
