Since his election loss last year, former Mombasa Senator who was keen to oust Governor Hassan Joho, has maintained uncharacteristically low political profile leaving many guessing what future holds for the former Wiper Secretary General.

Even on the day when his petition challenging the election of Joho was determined last month  by a Mombasa Law Court, the former Senator was conspicuously missing.

And even after President Uhuru Kenyatta overlooked him in his new list of Cabinet Secretaries, the once-vocal politician never gave his reaction even as his fate in Jubilee remained a matter of public debate.

But in a rare public appearance, Omar emerged on Saturday when he accompanied Deputy President William Ruto to Kwale where Kenya's number two was initiating various development projects.

The former Senator's public appearance, the first of its kind in as many months, will undoubtedly help to allay fears that his days in Jubilee are numbered. However, therethere still exists many questions on his political future especially after failing to land any top government position in the recent appointments.
