Speaking over the weekend, Governor Rasanga directed County Secretary David Anyona to sack corrupt staff in the Finance and Public Works departments.

The Siaya County boss noted that he will not entertain corrupt workers in his government, adding that two departments; Finance and Public Works have corrupted officials making it difficult for him to deliver his promises to the Siaya residents

"Suitability tests should be conducted on people who will be hired to work in the departments," Rasanga was quoted by MediaMax.

He blamed officials from the Public Works department for the pathetic state of roads in the county as it is their obligations to inspect and monitor projects before process payment of contractors.

Regarding the performance of the county assembly, the governor noted that he was pleased that the local legislative organ had finally approved his nominees for various county executive positions.

Rasanga's directive is a move in the right direction, however, residents are keenly watching to examine whether the corrupt officials will be fired.
