In a telephone interview with The Star Newspaper on Sunday, Rasanga noted that change of political dynamics had informed his decision to pick a different deputy.

The County Chief has since picked university don James Okumbe as his preferred running mate.

Okumbe is a lecturer at the Central University of Technology in Free State, South Africa, and had earlier contemplated vying for the Bondo parliamentary seat.

“I was planning to join politics and vie as Bondo MP to give back to the community. My dream has come true, now that I have been appointed as Rasanga’s running mate,” Okumbe revealed in a media briefing.

Earlier, there were speculations that Rasanga could pick nominated MP Oburu Odinga as running mate.

Rasanga is facing stiff competition from Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo who is seeking to unseat him as an independent candidate.
