Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has accused his rivals of spreading falsehoods that he has been using his position as governor to enrich himself.
Rasanga termed the claims malicious saying they are perpetuated by his rivals eyeing the position he currently holds.
"My competitors are propagating falsehoods that I have amassed wealth through corruption and misuse of county resources. Am not from a poor background, my father was a rich man," he told his supporters in Ugunja.
Rasanga argues that his late father, Amoth Owira, who was a paramount chief during the colonial period, had a lot of resources and he inherited a lot of wealth.
Apparently, the sentiments were directed at Gem MP Jakayo Midiwo who had at a past event accused Rasanga of hatching corruption in the county at the expense of development against the pillars he was elected.
Rasanga also blamed some ODM party officials for the persistent criticism against his leadership arguing that the officials have failed to protect him from the critics.
