The Siaya county assembly has failed to resume operations after Governor Cornel Rasanga failed to grace the opening event.

The governor is said to have been out of the country and this information reached the assembly late.

According to speaker George Okode, Rasanga communicated his absence via a memo and rescheduled the Assembly opening event for September 20.

The speaker added that the assembly will continue conducting its business despite the delay in the opening.

He revealed that they will go ahead to elect key leaders including chairpersons of all house committees.

Already, the positions of majority leaders and chief whip have been filled by Peter Odero (Ugunja) and Joannes Andiego (South Sakwa ward) respectively.
