Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has vowed to mobilise residents on January 4 to protest against the controversial amendments to the election laws passed by the National Assembly last week.
Speaking in Bondo on Tuesday, the county boss said the protests are aimed at liberating the country from oppressive laws that may subvert democracy.
“Jubilee leadership must follow the law and not practice dictatorship by changing laws overnight to suit their personal interests, contrary to the citizens will,” Rasanga said as quoted by the Star.
Cord, through its principals, has called for mass action on January 4 after Jubilee-allied MPs in the National Assembly adopted the controversial amendments to the election laws.
The amendments were passed last week amid chaos and violence that marred the National Assembly proceedings.
