Residents of Kisii town have expressed concern over a broken sewer line that has been leaking raw sewage into the streets for the last one week.
The residents complained of a strong stench emunating from the raw sewage, especially at Storm Hotel and accused the County Government for ignoring their complains.
Mr Edga Nyandigisi, a local said many business premises near the hotel have been affected as customers avoid the area due to the sewage menace.
"The raw sewage is a threat to our businesses. It keeps on worsening on a daily basis and we request the County Government to intervene and help before its too late," he said.
James Mogere, also a resident, said the raw sewage was posing danger to school going children who pass through the streets on daily basis.
‘‘ The sewage could also be harmful to the pupils who normally use the streets on a daily basis," said Mogere.
However, on Monday the County Health official toured the area and assured the residents that the government will repair all the broken sewer lines.
Led by Kisii County Public Health Officer Melitus Kabari they appealed for calmness as the county workers fixed the line.
Kabari also acknowledged that the town lacked a proper sewerage system but assured them that it will be sorted.
