Rongai MP Raymond Moi has said the independence party, Kanu is not part of the ongoing protests against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Speaking during an interview in Nakuru town, Moi distanced the party from the anti-IEBC demos saying the presence of the secretary general Nick Salat was at a personal level and that party members were not consulted.
“As a long-serving member of Kanu, I want to disassociate my party from the protests. As much as our secretary general was spotted among the demonstrators, his decision was at a personal level,” said Moi.
He regretted that the presence of Salat had been generalised to show that Kanu had joined in the demos.
The legislator said demonstrations were not the right path to the disbandment of the electoral body and called for dialogue over the issue.
