Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has called for the re-arrest of University of Nairobi students earlier charged for crime.
Matiang'i, who is also the Education CS, wants 35 students whom the university re-admitted after facing criminal charges re-arrested and prosecuted.
The students were last year arrested on suspicion of committing various criminal offenses in the institution.
The CS said their prosecution has since stagnated and must be revisited.
Matiang’i claimed that the said students might have been involved in the 'unruly culture cropping up in the institution'.
He was speaking over the recent happenings at the institutions where police are said to have brutalised students, causing unrest and eventual closure of the university.
