Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui held a meeting with Transport and Infrastructure PS Eng John Mosonik and Kenya National Highways Authority director general Eng Peter Mundinia on Wednesday morning.
The meeting centered on the rising number of fatal accidents on the 14 Kms Salgaa - Kibunja stretch on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.He said, "works on having a dual carriage from Nairobi to Malaba has already started."Kinyanjui said he had already requested President Uhuru Kenyatta to have the contractor set base in Nakuru to remodel the Sobea-Salgaa-Mukinyai-Sachangwan-GSU-Kibunja stretch."H.E the President has heeded to our plea and a contractor will be on site beginning early next year."Energy CS Charles Keter also promised to ensure that the highway lights are erected for better visibility at night."And in as much as the County and National governments work together in reducing accidents, it's my humble prayer that all road users - motorists, riders, and pedestrians observe traffic rules. Those vandalising road signs will be met with the full force of the law."He later sent a condolence message to the bereaved and wish the injured quick recovery, following Sachangwa grisly accident on Tuesday.
