Rural area Electrification Authority (REA) has began a search for the new chief executive officer after the exit of the current embattled CEO Ng'ang'a Munyu on the grounds of attaining the retirement of age 60 years.
In a notice issued on Tuesday 17, the state owned agency is looking for another occupant of the corner office with a minimum experience of 15 years in the related field and at least five years experience in a senior managerial position, preferably in international trade.
Munyu has worked at the agency for three years since assuming the office on July 2013 but has been pushed out by the agency before completing his three year contract valid until May 2018.
“Reporting to the board of directors, the chief executive officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the authority and the implementation of the authority’s decisions in a results-oriented and timely manner to achieve the authority’s goals, objectives and agreed performance targets,” said the agency in a notice posted on the dailies.
The early exit of Ng'ang'a has been attributed to the audit report that showed loss of billions in the agency during the primary school Electrification programme.
Ng'ang'a was on March suspended together with five other senior managers to pave way for investigations.
Munyu has however been appointed by Tharaka Nithi county government as the county’s economic adviser.
