Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Monday took to social media to announce that he had won the vote recount ordered by the court.

His jubilated supporters congratulated him over the win.

“Thanks to the Almighty God. The will of the people of Embakasi East is finally out. Results before the recount. Babu Owino - 46587. Francis Mureithi- 42253. Results AFTER recount: Babu Owino 46813, Francis Mureithi 42475. Thank you, God the devil is ashamed,” Owino posted on Facebook.

The court made the order after Mureithi petitioned the ODM MP’s win.

Hon Kinoti Mwirigi said: “Congratulations Mheshimiwa. That Jubilee guy can ask the court to order for the recount of his teeth. I'm sure he has more than 52.”

Frank Kyallo Wambua wrote: “Finally a big win indeed. Next, I'm expecting the court to issue an order petitioner to pay 20 Million as the cost for the petition he lodged against our legitimate MP for Embakasi East. #Wananchipower. Tibiim.”

Hesbon Ong'era on his part said: “Its time to settle and work for the people who did the exercise of voting regardless of those who didn't vote for you. Let service to humanity prevail. We knew the devil was to be ashamed!! TIBIM!!”

Maureen Adagala said: “Congrats mheshimiwa we embakasians (Embakasi residents) love you and indeed voted for you, now it's time to deliver to us”

Ako Flow commented: “Congratulations Babu Owino! I said Embakasi East is Nasa stronghold and Mureithi could not win... Not even with Panadol Extra!”

However, Mureithi also posted his own version of the results on Facebook.

"We have ballot boxes missing from six polling stations and cannot be found, Form 35A missing for over 60 stations others have no IEBC stamps and Officials Signatures. It’s evident the process was not conducted as per the rules. The final tally for 201 polling stations of 207 are as follows; Francis Mureithi 47,582 Babu Owino 46,813. WE NOW AWAIT THE FINAL COURT JUDGEMENT AFTER THE FINDINGS ARE TAKEN BACK TO COURT. GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS 🙏🏽. ASANTE YAHWEH," said Mureithi.
