Kenyans on Twitter expressed mixed reactions after three Gor Mahia fans lost their lives on Sunday.
The three perished after they were involved in a road accident in Mlolongo town along Mombasa Road.
According to reports, the fans who were headed to a match at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos town were hanging dangerously on the vehicle they had boarded before the incident.
A section of Kenyans blamed the traffic police for allowing the fans to hang on the matatu without stopping them while others mourned the departed.
Below are the reactions from KoT:
@Obuchunju: After today's accident at Mlolongo , Let Gor Mahia fans stop this risky behavior of hanging on a moving vehicle.I know the adrenaline rises when the game is almost kicking off but please mind your lives. Rest in peace soldiers.
@SaddiqueShaban: Police jurisdictions between Nairobi CBD andMlolongo .- Railways Police station, Nyayo Stadium, Industrial Area, Embakasi and Athi River. Yet police allowed Gor Mahia fans to dangle dangerously from moving vehicles, endangering own lives and other road users. We never learn.
@is_musyoki: our hearts are with @OfficialGMFC for what happened today in mlolongo , machakos county. but please why won't the rest of the funs mourn their colleagues? on their way back they played so loud music and danced like hell at machakos junction when there was a lot of jam.
@Obi_kenya001: Don't risk your life and blame the police, traffic act is clear, no body part should be outside a moving vehicle. Rest in Peace comrades but let it be a lesson to others who hang on moving vehicles. It's you who will die not the police.
@AtiePetra: My sincerest condolences to the families and friends of Gor Mahia FC Fans who perished in a ghastly road carnage today at Mlolongo . Prayers, go out to the injured and their families at this time. May the souls of the departed rest internal peace.
