Remarks from political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi that Sonko is not a girl have continued to elicit mixed reactions from Nairobians and the rest of the country.
Following the resignation of Nairobi deputy governor Polycarp Igathe, Ngunyi took to social media dismissing Igathe's political skills and telling him that winning trust from the governor should not have been his first priority since trust is "for girls".
But these remarks did not go down well with Nairobian political commentators who read malice in Ngunyi.
"Besides, your depiction of people from other communities as thugs or useless is not surprising when you even collaborated to still (sic) from the government. You are also practicing bigotry by associating trust with girls," said Kimanzi Kaki.
Others took Ngunyi's talk as sexist remarks that targetted to dent the image of women in society.
"Girls have nothing to do with your nonsensical analysis! This another century, girls don't want trust, they want a loaded bank account! Wake up," Cess Blackberry said.
"Kenya could use less sexist analysis. What in the world does "Trust is for girls" mean?" said Christie Ng'ang'a.
Joshua Njenga said:
"This kind of language demeans and is disrespectful to women."
"I Pitty your wife and girls you're raising, they must be too strong to stomach your disrespect for women," added Tony Ojwang.
