President Uhuru Kenyatta publicly kisses with his first cousin Beth Mugo at past. [Photo|funguajicho.blogspot.com]A number of Kenyans have reacted, opposed to a decision, where former Cabinet Minister and Nominated Senator Beth Mugo, was nominated as a senator in the 12th parliament.Mugo who is President Uhuru Kenyatta's first cousin, was nominated as a senator once again by Uhuru's Jubilee Party, after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), gazetted names of all nominated MPs, August 25.On Facebook, several Kenyans wrote several posts about the same, including the two posts below.Mwalimu Mutemi Wa Kiama shared Wahome Kiruma's post."#UshenziKE via Wahome Kiruma(1) In 2013, TNA nominated LESUUDA NAISULA as a Senator.5 years down the line, she smartly realised that the spirit of Affirmative Action was alive and had to be strengthened. She did not seek a slot on a silver platter. This year, she VIED for the Samburu West parliamentary seat. She WON. Thus opening a slot for another young woman to be nominated to her previous seat. Its a Plus-plus.(2) HON SARA LEKORERE a young woman from Laikipia North was nominated by URP to represent women in 2013 in the NA. She took it with zeal. At some point she was beaten, physically by that warmonger MP MATTHEW LEMPURKEL in Nkaissery's office. This year, she threw her hat in the ring, against the populist irritant. In a highly conservative society, she still went ahead to win the seat against mountainous odds. She has left her nomination slot for another woman to be empowered. A plus-plus.(3) JANET MARANIA TEYIAA, a woman so heavily disabled by polio at a young age was nominated as MP by TNA in 2013 to represent PLWDs.In 2017, she realised that the Affirmative Action spirit had empowered her as a woman. She bit the bullet, CONTESTED for the Jubilee Ticket in the Primaries in which she WON against 5 able-bodied women....got the ticket which she campaigned with for the General elections on 8.8.2017 and against 6 other (able-bodied) women, she got 186Kvotes! Her closest rival had 104K! She opened an opportunity for another PLWD to be nominated. A plus-plus.(4) BETH WAMBUI MUGO:A 79-year-old, wealthy, Ex-two-term MP, Cabinet Minister, Nominated Senator.......decides to sit pretty and lazy to be nominated by her 1st cousin. She cannot imagine leaving the slot for another poor Kenyan woman to enjoy the fruits of Women Empowerment via Affirmative Action. She is nominated AGAIN to represent women. Selfish and inconsiderate.Very disappointing. Its retrogressive.Indefensible."One Wahome Thuku also shared his reaction below."IF I were Beth Mugo (78) I would resign from Senate at the appropriate time after taking oath for a young woman to come in. I would leave a legacy. For now, everything that this woman has ever achieved in this country will be washed down the drains by the hatred with which the new generation (which knows little about her) is spewing in the social media. Remember Kalpana Rawal?? That is how the aged wipe out their rich legacy, pulling down everything they build for decades.Imagine if Nelson Mandela tried to impose himself on South Africa for three, four terms. He would have died a disgraced man. Does anyone ever talk to Beth?"
