Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions after the Kenya Railway Cooperation announced an increase in fare for the Standard Gauge Railway's Madaraka Express.

"Effective May 1, 2018 the Madaraka Express Passenger Service Economy class fares will cost Ksh. 1,000 (one way). First class fares will remain at Ksh. 3,000," Kenya Railways said in an alert on Wednesday, March 21.

The only reason I use SGR, is to avoid the mombasa-voi road. It has been repaired since God knows when. Otherwise the cost of SGR is still high for me. Kwanza the foods n snacks inside the train, weh!acha tu
