In the ruling read by Justice Philip Waki, the court noted that Nyong'o election was conducted in accordance with the set laws.

The court made the ruling after ex-governor Jack Ranguma filed an appeal challenging a High Court decision that dismissed his petition.

Speaking after the ruling, Nyong'o thanked his legal team and Kisumu residents for their support and prayers during the petition.

"My victory in the August 8th, 2017 elections has today been reaffirmed by the appellate court. Special thanks goes to my legal team led by senior counsel @orengo_james ,friends, family and the great people of @KisumuCountyKE for your prayers," Nyong'o posted on his Twitter handle.
