Kiambu based Real estate tycoon  David Kariuki Ngari popularly known as Gakuyo has joined the race to unseat Governor William Kabogo in next year’s general election.

Ngari announced his bid for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat on Sunday at Thika AIPCA church during a Harambee in aid of the church.

The real estate tycoon promised to give aspirants who have declared an interest in the Kiambu seat including incumbent governor William Kabogo a run for their money.

He said that his urge to contest for the seat has been driven by the current governor's failure to deliver services to the people.

The aspirant claimed that the current leadership has failed to give locals services despite being among the top counties receiving huge funding from the national government.

He stated that the current county government has instead been embroiled in political tussles at the expense of service delivery to the people.

Ngari said that Kiambu has enough resources that should be used to empower the people economically and socially.

The tycoon who owns the Gakuyo Real Estate and Ekeza Sacco promised to offer servant leadership is elected in 2017 as Kiambu governor.

“I am ready to work for Kiambu people and push the county development agenda forward,” he said as quoted by Thika Town Today.

The Kiambu gubernatorial race has attracted several aspirants among them Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu.

Other aspirants who have declared interest in the Kiambu seat  are Gakuru Kanyanja, Njoki Gathendu and James Nyoro all who have declared interest to run on a Jubilee Party ticket.
