Even without official results of all parliamentary seats, it seems that NASA coalition will yet again have minority in both Senate and National Assembly.
For the second time in a row, Jubilee is set to control both houses following incredible performance in various regimes.
According to Prof. Nyachieo Bogonko, failure of NASA’s affiliate party to conduct free and fair nominations was the major reason behind its failure to control the house.
“Jubilee has performed well due to free and fair nominations. They even went ahead to reconcile losers while NASA had most of disgruntled aspirants running as independents.
“Also I think fielding of many NASA affiliate candidates in some critical regions was their main undoing. They failed in terms of strategy,” he adds.
Provisional results show that Jubilee has produced 12 MPs from Western region, which is undisputed NASA stronghold.
Also in Gusii, KNC and PDP produced at least 5 parliamentary seats and the fact that they two parties were supporting Raila Odinga; they were not officially welcome in NASA, a reason why they might chose to work with incoming government.
In Gusii particularly, Jubilee managed to scoop five seats despite the region being perceived as a NASA stronghold.
