Details have emerged why President Uhuru Kenyatta has delayed naming the new cabinet he intends to work with in his second term in office.

According to sources, the president is being delayed by his resolve to “get it right the first time” in his Cabinet appointments.

The president also wants to wants to plan all major government appointments before he can name the cabinet so as to meet all the promises he made during the campaigns.

However, other sources say that the increased delay has been occasioned by the need to help Deputy President William Ruto in his 2022 succession bid.

The president will have all the time he requires because the constitution does not compel him to work within any time frames.

When he rose into office for the first term in 2013, the president took only 14 days to name his Cabinet that was later sworn in on his 34th day in office.
