Owino was born on October 10, 1989 in Kisumu, he is now 28 years old.
Born and raised at Kondele slum in Kisumu City by his mother who traded in 'chang’aa', Owino passed his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and got an admission letter from Mang’u High School but instead joined Kisumu High School where he scored an A plain in KCSE examinations.
He then secured a chance to further his studies at Moi University but opted not to take up that golden chance to study in this prestigious university.
Many reasons could have contributed to his refusal to join the university including being enrolled for a course that he never wanted.
But the main and known reason is that of school fee as he earlier had difficulties in raising fee to joined schools that he qualified for.
Thanks to his uncle, a prominent farmer then who talked to him, introduced him to business and gave him capital to start a large scale vegetable business.
In 2 years time, Owino had raised enough fee to send him back to university but this time round to University of Nairobi where he enrolled for Degree in Biochemistry.
In 2011/2012 academic year, Babu Owino was elected as the chairman of the then Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU).
So had he joined Moi University, your guess is as good as mine. He could have been Moi University's student leader just as he was at the University of Nairobi.
