For over a month now, Bomet Governor and NASA’s fifth principal Isaac Rutto has not appeared in opposition rallies, a move that has raised eyebrows especially among the opposition supporters.
The former Chepalungu MP is said to have been instrumental in brokering a deal that saw former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka back Raila Odinga’s bid.
But in recent weeks, Rutto has been missing from action and is said to have taken his door to door campaigns in the larger Rift Valley counties where he is expected to be predominant when NASA tours.
“He is tasked to grab Rift Valley from Jubilee and most of his work is only limited to the region,” said a source familiar to operations within the opposition.
The source who spoke in confidence added: “He is doing a good job and will only be appearing in rallies held at his backyard.”
With his CCM party assured of Deputy Premier Position in NASA government, Rutto has been leading rebellion against Jubilee administration in the vote region.
Closely working with him are Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno and Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu, who is going for Narok governorship.
