Many people find themselves in jobs they hate but they cannot gather the courage to just call it quits. They will plan to leave but their plans never materialize. Years pass but they are still stuck with the job. However much they try to leave, they just cannot summon up enough guts to say goodbye. There are some reasons why people find it hard to leave the jobs they hate.
No other job
Normally, it is advisable to quit a job after you have found another one. This is because people fear tarmacking. It is one of the reasons why people hold on to jobs they hate. They will talk bad about their jobs and how their bosses are strict but when you ask them,” Why can’t you just quit?” they will answer you with another question,” But I have not found another job, where do you expect me to go?” How will I pay my bills?
The fear of staying jobless is the main reason why many people are stuck with jobs they do not like.
It is paying well
Another reason why people stick with jobs they hate is the fact that they pay well. For example, it is hard to find a person quitting a job paying Kshs 80,000 per month to accept another job paying Sh 40 per month. They would rather suffer in a well-paying job than be happy in a low paying job.
More responsibilities
It is easier for a young unmarried person to quit a job they hate than for an old man with a large family to do the same. Because many people depend on a person with a family, he or she will rather stick to a job they hate for the sake of providing for the family and relatives.
Fear of the unknown
Another major reason why people do not have the courage to quit jobs they hate is the fear of the unknown. They do not know what will happen next. What if they do not get another job? What if they find it unbearable being jobless or how will they venture into other jobs? If they get into a business, how sure are they that the business will succeed? These questions which go unanswered prevent them from taking that bold step to forward their resignation letters. Quitting a job while you do not have another is a risk that many people are not willing to take.
