The opposition alliance’s meeting which was set to start yesterday Monday failed and is said to have been rescheduled to take place today.

It earlier emerged that the meeting failed to take place after the conspicuous absense of the coalition's key principal who could not make it to the retreat at the said time.

ODM leader Raila Odinga travelled to South Africa to visit his ailing daughter Rosemary Odinga over the Easter Holiday, reducing the heads at the meeting to only three.

“We cannot go to a retreat because some of the principals are not present. Raila is in South Africa while Kalonzo Musyoka had travelled to Dubai,” said Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi.

He added: “The principals can only have a full meeting when all of them are around.”

Raila is however expected back in the country today morning.

There was also a pending issue on the accepted power-sharing formula where the affiliate parties were still not in agreement with eaach other on how to distribute responsibility among themselves and their parties.

Also, the expected inclusion of Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto played a big role in the postponement.

“There is a need for more time so that the coalition is able to bring Ruto on board and work on ways of accommodating him and what his stake in the coalition will be,” said a source within the NASA ranks.
