Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has hit out at the Jubilee administration for deceiving farmers that they will buy fertilizers at a subsidized price. He said farmers are now buying fertilizers at Sh1, 800.
"It's sad that despite the Jubilee government which I am part of promising to subsidize fertilizer prices from Sh1, 800 to Sh1, 200 nothing has been done yet we voted overwhelmingly for them," he said in Eldoret, Thursday."As we are talking we have only received 5,000 bags of subsidized fertilizers at the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot yet the planting season is nearing. What will farmers use during this planting season? Was this the reason why I was denied the National Assembly agriculture committee chair for farmers to suffer," added the MP who has been banded a rebel in Jubilee party. He further faulted the government for reducing milk prices."During the electioneering period President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto promised dairy farmers that they will sell their milk at Sh45 per litre but as per now the price is Sh35 per litre," noted the Jubilee legislator. He also called upon the Ministry of Agriculture to pay farmers who delivered their maize to NCPB their arrears amounting to Sh3 billion. To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
