Moiben Member of Parliament has commended the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for speeding the interrogation of the National Youth Service (NYS) scam.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Monday, Tiren said all suspects who were engaged in the theft of NYS money should be prosecuted to serve as an example to the rest of government officials with intentions to steal public funds.
“I am happy that some NYS suspects have been arrested including the NYS general director Richard Ndubai. It is time Kenyans’ money paid through taxes to be accounted for,” he said.
Tiren warned the Judiciary against taking the corruption cases lightly saying the suspects should be sent to jail if found guilty.
“The Judges handling the corruption cases in courts should not succumb to blackmail and intimidation from any cartel politician who may be out to defend the thieves. We want to see the latest NYS thieves sent to jail so that other state officials can learn to manage public funds well,” he noted.
The MP stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto should ensure even their close friends who engage in corruption are arraigned in court.
He warned that corruption might derail the implementation of the Jubilee government’s Big 4 agenda.
