Orange Democratic Movement party has now put on notice party MPs in Homa Bay County who are supporting non-ODM candidates in the coming Senatorial by-election.
This comes after ODM a motorcade that was popularising Moses Kajwang’ came under heavy attack at Olare trading centre on Sunday.
The party political affairs secretary Opiyo Wandayi said that it has been confirmed that some ODM members support rival candidates during the night.
Wandayi said unspecified action will be taken against any ODM member, regardless of their party status if found culpable of the offence, adding that such actions are going against the Political Parties Act and ODM constitution.
“We must whip members now, for those who are supporting rivals in this coming by election watch out,” warned Wandayi.
Speaking to jounalists in Kisumu, Wandayi, who is also Ugunja MP, said the attack on the ODM motorcade was pre-planned and hatched by some of the defectors.
He said the attack did not mean a dissent on ODM in Homa Bay County, but a plot by a few renegade elements.
“Let nobody cheat you that the attack was as a result of waning support of ODM in Homa Bay, no, it was a plot by those who failed to clinch the ODM nominations,” said Wandayi.
He further accused the police for doing little to stop the attack, or further arrest the culprits after leaving scores with injuries.
