Rebellion in the opposition coalition has reached an all-time high after key party leaders of the party skipped the parallel rally in Kibera.
Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula were nowhere close to Raila's rally on Saturday. Some of the ODM loyal parliamentarians were spotted in Jubilee rally at the Afraha stadium.
Ken Obura of Kisumu Central Constituency and James Rege of Karachuonyo area availed themselves to the Jubilee rally contrary to their party's desires.
The Jubilee prayer rally had in the previous week received harsh criticism from the opposition that branded the rally as a mockery to God and also the internally displaced people who are yet to be settled and compensated. Raila had organised a parallel rally in Kibera grounds to coincide with that of the ruling coalition.
The ODM rally was scheduled as a show of solidarity and togetherness with the affected persons during the 2007/2008 post poll violence.
In the recent past, several legislators including Zainabu Chidzuga, Joe Mutambu, Samuel Arama and Gideon Mung'aro have decamped from the opposition to Jubilee. It is also rumoured that Kalonzo is on his way to the ruling coalition.
It should be noted that Ukambani region is the opposition's stronghold and Musyoka's exit could be seen as reconciliation in the area.
