With less than three weeks to the elections the latest polls show President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga neck and neck.
According to an Infotrak poll released on Sunday, National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga leads the race with 47% leaving President Uhuru Kenyatta trailing with 46%.
However, another survey taken by Ipsos puts President Kenyatta in the lead with 47% leaving Odinga trailing at 43%.
Despite the results of the survey it is important to note that a candidate must receive 50 plus 1 percent of the vote along with the support of 25 out of 47 counties in order to win.
"The outcome will depend on voters’ turnout, which side gets more people out on voting day,” Ipsos researcher Tom Wolf said as reported by Bloomberg.
Incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta is competing for a second term against opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The NASA leader has lost three previous presidential bids and has stated that he will not accept defeat if the election process is not conducted in a justifiable and fair manner.
According to Emma Gordon, a senior analyst at the Bath, England based risk consultancy, President Kenyatta's chances of a first round win has significantly declined from 69% to 49%
"Kenyatta’s chances of securing a first-round victory has dramatically fallen over the last months due to a series of scandals and missteps during the campaign," Gordon stated.
According to the Infotrak poll support for Jubilee and NASA is tied at 45%.
During the survey 49% of those people believe that country is headed in the wrong direction while 47% believe the country is headed in the right direction.
