Leaders and parents have been challenged to recognise teachers and principals for work well done in schools.
According to the retired principal Robinson Otwori the demoralisation of teachers and principals in schools has affected educations since teachers are not recognised in the society.
Otwori has said that recognising the good work done by teachers will motivate and strengthens in the performance of their duties.
“Most of the time you find the teachers are not recognised by the community, instead of being motivated they are demoralised by the parents and even leaders,” said Otwori.
He appealed to the leaders and parents to appreciate the work done by teachers and even when they retire they should be well compensated.
“When a teacher has retired he/she needs to be appreciated for a job well done as one way of showing others that they are doing a good work," said Otwori.
"For example I have retired and I was not recognized for my 35 years of service what about the teachers who are still teaching,” asked Otwori.
