The Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has been urged to move with speed and help reconcile senior party members who are tipped to challenge each other in the 2017 polls.
Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama and West Mugirango MP James Gesami are set to battle it out for the gubernatorial seat while in Kisii County, Senator Chris Obure and Governor James Ongwae are poised to run against each other for the county top post..
Now Bogichora MCA Beuttah Omanga believes the disharmony should be fixed urgently before it degenerates into a huge political rift within the Gusii region.
“The fact remains that ODM enjoys support in Gusii reion but the emerging political rivalry among senior party members will be a huge set back to our quest in securing majority seats. It gives our competitors a slight advantage for well-known reasons,” he said.
“The party leader should act swiftly and meet these politicians so that we pull together as a team. Time has come to handle these small internal disputes,” he added.
He also urged the party electoral body to deploy mechanisms that will enhance free and fair nominations to avoid party hoping towards the general election.
“Even as the former Premier solves the political disharmony among key ODM political players whom we all know, the party nominations should also be very fair to curb any party hoping towards general elections. But I strongly recommend that he meets all aspiring and elected leaders allied to opposition,” he added.
