During his state of the nation address in parliament yesterday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that his government is taking the fight against graft seriously.
"Sh400 million assets from key suspects of the NYS scandal have been recovered," he said.
While recovering stolen assets is good, arresting the thieves is better. If those involved in corruption are not arrested, they will not shy away from engaging in corrupt deals in the future even if their assets are frozen!
Assets recovery agency should hand over those found with stolen assets to the police.
The president mentioned that 360 cases of graft are pending in court where 175 state officers believed to be corrupt are being investigated.
The fight against corruption should not end at freezing accounts and recovering assets but it should also be extended to see those found guilty charged.
