The health department in Nyamira has received a major boost after the Kenya Red Cross Society through the Global Fund donated an assortment of medical equipment to the county.

The equipment will be distributed across 73 health facilities in the region. 

Director for Red Cross Nyamira Rachael Okongo said Monday the equipment will boost the sector especially in emergencies.

"We have today received an assorted medical equipment from the Red Cross Society and this will increase efficiency in the sector more so when dealing with emergencies and complicated cases," she said. 

This is the second time the health department is receiving such equipment, the first one being three months ago when it got Sh50 million equipment from the US.
