Kenya Red Cross Society has provided an ambulance to help victims of accidents along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
Mike Ayabei, the Society's Rift Valley coordinator, said the rescue car will be on the highway throughout this festive season.
"The ambulance will be stationed at Salgaa for two months because of high traffic as many people travel for Christmas," he told The Standard on Tuesday.
Ayabei said the decision has been informed by the rising number of accidents along the route.
"Most accident victims die due to lack of access to emergency services. That is why we have decided to station an ambulance at Salgaa," he said.
He said the rescue vehicle, in addition to Salgaa black spot, will also serve Sobea, Teachers, Sachangwan , Migaa and Kamara stretches.
"The ambulance is fully equipped and has staff and volunteers who will offer first aid and advice on referral of accident victims to various hospitals," Ayabei added.
For the past few months hundreds have lost lives due to carnage along the highway.
